Terms of Service

By installing the Side Notepad extension or using the website (together, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. These Terms are between you and Side Notepad (“we”, “us”).

Side Notepad is a notepad that lives in your browser's side panel. The free extension runs fully offline against your browser's local storage. An optional Pro subscription adds cloud sync, full-text search, and a web dashboard.

You can use the free extension without an account. An account is only required for Pro features. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure and for any activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If we learn someone younger has signed up, we'll delete the account.

Pro is billed at $1.49 / month or $11.99 / yearthrough Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Prices may change in the future; we'll email any change at least 30 days before it takes effect.

You can cancel any time from your account page (which links to Dodo's customer portal). After you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the current billing period. Your local notes keep working forever — only cloud sync pauses.

Refunds are handled by Dodo Payments under their standard policy. If you believe you've been billed in error, email sunilkm2610@gmail.com and we'll work with you to sort it out.

You own your notes. We don't claim any ownership over what you type. To make cloud sync, search, and the web dashboard work, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, transmit, and display your notes back to you on the devices signed in to your account. That license ends when you delete the content or your account.

We do not use your notes to train machine-learning models and we do not share them with third parties beyond the infrastructure providers (Supabase, Dodo) that operate the Service on our behalf.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• break the law or infringe someone else's rights;
• store or distribute malware, illegal content, or material that sexually exploits minors;
• harass, impersonate, or defraud other people, including through the notes you write;
• probe, scan, or deliberately overload our infrastructure, or attempt to access accounts that aren't yours.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section. Individual notes are capped at 500 KB to keep sync reliable; larger notes stay local.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do our best, but we can't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific needs.

The free extension stores notes in your browser's local IndexedDB. If you clear your browser data, uninstall the extension, or reset your device, those local-only notes will be permanently lost. We have no way to recover them. If your notes matter to you, subscribe to Pro for cloud sync or copy important notes somewhere safe.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Side Notepad will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or, if you're on the free tier, $0).

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or end your access if you materially violate these Terms, or if we have to stop providing the Service. If we terminate your account for convenience, we'll refund any prepaid-but-unused portion of your subscription.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify signed-in users by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new Terms.
